About Dr. Neil Pollock
Dr. Pollock limits his practice to only two surgical procedures. Circumcision is one of these procedures. (No-Scalpel No-Needle Vasectomy is the other). For these two procedures, Dr. Pollock is one of the busiest and most well-known physicians in North America.
Years ago, before beginning to perform these procedures, Dr. Pollock traveled to many cities in North America researching first hand what he believed to be all the best techniques used by the most experienced doctors. After carefully studying their most effective strategies, Dr. Pollock put together his own approach to these surgeries, combining the most effective elements of what he learned.
As of 2018, Dr. Pollock has performed over 35,000 circumcisions. Currently he performs approximately 2000 annually at his two private clinics. Dr. Pollock is a frequent guest lecturer at local hospitals and conferences His research into developing a reliable, quick and virtually pain free approach to circumcision has been published internationally.
He often appears as a medical expert on radio and television. His pioneering efforts to establish a quick and virtually painless method of circumcision have also been highlighted in medical journals.
Circumcision Surgical Training
Pollock Technique™ circumcision can be used for babies, boys, and men of all ages, and consists of using a Mogen clamp under long-acting local anaesthetic as well as a specific set of pre and post procedure protocols. The Pollock circumcision method is quick, reliable, and minimizes potential complications. Both infant and adult circumcisions are performed in minutes under local anesthetic only.
The course given one-on-one by Dr. Pollock will focus on the surgical methods and skills key to consistent positive outcomes. Topics will include anatomy, surgical technique, minimizing complications, treating complications, pre and post-operative care routines.
The course is unique in that it offers an in depth look at the surgical process in a very intensive and organized manner. To our knowledge, there is no other comparable surgical training course offered anywhere else in the world today.
Course Overview
To begin, each applicant will be guided through a detailed information booklet and set of surgical videos. Next, they will progress to operating on constructed models while being provided with detailed feedback as they improve their technique. Then, the applicant will assist in, or perform with guidance, circumcisions on live patients.
There will be approximately 25 circumcisions to perform each day.
Circumcision Training Timeline
The duration of the course will depend on the dexterity, knowledge and prior training of the applicant.
Typically, an MD will spend 5 to 10 days with Dr. Pollock, depending on prior experience.
The pace of the course will progress at a rate that is comfortable for the trainee.
High Standards
Dr. Pollock emphasizes that each trainee must work towards acquiring knowledge and skills to be able to perform a safe and painless surgery that is of the highest aesthetic standard.
Dr. Pollock uses the Mogen clamp technique with a 4-step pain control protocol which includes Tempra or Tylenol, sugar solution (for babies), topical anesthetic cream and a local anesthetic injection. This combined approach allows for a virtually bloodless, painless 30 second infant procedure.
